Object Writing: Team

A pair of weathered shoes laid side by side, their once mirrored soles worn askew by the gait of their owner. The tussled laces slump akimbo not yet in need of securing a jacketed foot. One without the other seem quite useless to a pair of pale feet needing to appear smarmy and humble at the same time. Even though they may lumber along like small boat over waves, diving up and spearing down weight each step, their usefulness (in general) is as two. One. Two. A duet of slippers, a couple of suedes, deux chaussures. A life in plural to function as singular. The left foot may tread along the eroded gravel while the right steps surely across sleek edged concrete paths to make way for another pair of shoes travelling the other way. Still, they work as a team protecting the delicate leather of a forever hidden foot with tailored nails and moisturised skin beaten by the audacity of a sales floor, shadowed under sock and tie. An absolutely dapper facade though sometimes impractical when five inches high upon a tightrope leg jittering across loose stone...

This one was fun! I really tried to think of other words for two: duet, couple, deux and then could not think of anything more. Although now I'm thinking of: double which could have been useful. The rest I would need to google but that could have been a fun thing to explore!

Favourite lines: tussles laces slump akimbo; jacketed foot; smarmy and humble; lumber along; duet of slippers; beaten by the audacity of a sales floor; sock and tie; tightrope leg jittering across loose stone.

If you're interested in doing one, pop a timer on for 10 minutes and pick a random word. I grab mine from www.objectwriting.com .

Bonne nuit!
