Object Writing: Soldier

His back was concrete stiff, standing straight and tall, a posture any would envy. Wearing clothes of mottled greens, he strode down a grocery aisle surprisingly at ease despite the crisp uniform. As I rolled my janky trolley past loaves and flat wraps I pass two others with the same straight posture and uniform. Their hair tied neatly in brunette buns and an arm laden by a basket of snacks. These women top were mottled clothed with impossibly shiny boots. I caught myself wondering whether pressed clothes and shiny boots are as important during combat, thinking of the mud encrusted trenches of the movies and, collapsed mounds of rubble and unending rain. Surely not. Perhaps it is a display in discipline and aesthetics for the general public, perhaps not.
