The train screeches to a halt alongside the platform breathing a final sigh between the beeping doors and amplified announcements. A gaggle of legs step on and off, headed home and shuffling down the aisle to claim seats before the conductor's whistle sees the train heaving forward again. The rhythmic canter of the train, skipping past houses and streets, sports fields and stations lulls thoughts, a puffed pillow of ideas settling down for the day. To keep from the magnetic slump of sleep, eyes dart across vibrant screens, fingers performing from memory to guide the prompts to stay activated. Others skitter looks across the carriage to inspect attire and presentation, fabricating untrue stories and elaborate histories of unwitting participants. The girl seated slumped, bold platform shoes an asset to a youthful look could share underage vapes...
